Skopje, September 25, 2025 – A ceremonial opening of the office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in the city of Kumanovo.
The festive event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and North Macedonia.
In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Burshakov emphasized the historical significance of the Kumanovo region, where, according to historical records, in the early 12th century, Turkic nomads of the “Kuman” (Kipchak) tribe from Central Asia settled. The Ambassador drew the audience’s attention to the establishment of ties between the cities of Karaganda and Kumanovo. This important step followed the signing in May of this year of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Akimat of the city of Karaganda and the Municipality of Kumanovo, which laid the foundation for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in many areas. The Ambassador also noted a number of important joint achievements – the working visit to Astana in May this year by the President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, to participate in the Astana International Forum and meet with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as the June visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski.
At the ceremonial event, congratulatory speeches were also delivered by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia Zoran Dimitrovski and Chairwoman of the Kumanovo Municipal Council Ivana Gjorgievska. Z. Dimitrovski emphasized that the Honorary Consulate would serve as a catalyst for economic development and prosperity, providing direct channels for the business community, facilitating the flow of investments in both directions, and enhancing trade relations.
The newly appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ejup Abdullahi, expressed his gratitude for the high level of trust extended by the Kazakh side and confirmed his readiness to intensify cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
The event was attended by representatives of local authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic corps, the business community, and the public of North Macedonia.
