About King’s Day

King’s Day in Belgium, celebrated annually on November 15 since 1866, was established by King Leopold II. This holiday symbolizes the unity of the Belgian nation, reflecting the richness of its political, cultural, and linguistic diversity.

In Belgium, the day is marked by ceremonies in the Federal Parliament and church services that highlight the role of the monarchy in contemporary Belgium. Schools and universities focus on discussions about the significance of the royal dynasty, and the national anthem is prominently played.

Belgian communities worldwide also commemorate this day, fostering a deeper connection between the diaspora and their homeland.

The celebration in Almaty was a shining example of international respect for tradition and history, emphasizing the importance of Belgium’s royal dynasty in shaping national identity and cultural heritage.
