Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, November 20-21, 2023 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Spain Danat Musayev made a working trip to the autonomous community of Spain - the Canary Islands.

At the beginning of his visit, the Kazakh diplomat held talks with the Chairman of the Government of the Canary Islands Fernando Clavijo and the representative of the Government of Spain in the Canary Islands Maria Teresa Mayans. During the visit, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan took part in a round table organized jointly with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the region. During the event, the Ambassador drew the attention of business representatives to the priority of developing economic cooperation between the regions of the two countries, as well as using the transit potential of our country for the transportation of goods between Europe and Asia.

The main event of the visit was the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Canary Islands. The representative office of Kazakhstan in the region is now headed by Rafael Juan Molina Petit, Professor of International Trade and International Economics at the Atlantic Policy Institute, who previously held senior positions in the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Canary Islands.

The Honorary Consul has an important role, first of all, in strengthening economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the region and Kazakhstan. The priority area of activity is undoubtedly the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of Kazakhstan. Special attention will be paid to supporting contacts with Kazakhstani children adopted by Spanish citizens. It should be noted that currently there are 4 honorary consulates of Kazakhstan in various regions of Spain.
