Opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Bogota, Colombia

A new Honorary Consulate opened in Bogota, Colombia, on December 11, 2020. This is the very first Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Colombia. Mr. Omar Valdez, who is the Director of Crude Oil & Gas Latin America, has been appointed the new Honorary Consul.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil, H.E. Kairat Sarzhanov, Director of the European Department of the Colombian Foreign Ministry, Juan Castro, as well as representatives of the public, political and business circles of the city, the diplomatic corps and media communities.

The Honorary Consulate underlines the political will of both countries to expand the bilateral agenda. Omar Valdez outlined potential areas of cooperation between the two countries, including agriculture, mining and oil industries.
