ALMATY, June 19, 2026 — The Ykhlas Museum of Folk Musical Instruments hosted a solemn ceremony for the donation of two traditional Portuguese folk guitars from the Embassy of the Portuguese Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was timed to coincide with the celebration of the National Day of Portugal.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Mr. José Ataíde Amaral, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Portugal to Kazakhstan; His Excellency Mr. Luis Francisco Martínez Montes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain to Kazakhstan; His Excellency Mr. Zhanibek Abdrashov, Ambassador-at-Large and Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty; Mr. Dias Suleimenov, Honorary Consul of Portugal in Almaty; and Mr. Denis Van den Weghe, Chairman of the Board of the Society of Honorary Consuls of Kazakhstan. The event was also attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well as cultural and business circles of the southern capital.
The donated instruments has taken a worthy place in the museum's exhibition, symbolizing deep mutual respect and the dynamic development of cultural and humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and Portugal.
